■ Genesis Motorsports was established in 2013 after Tim Sr., Shari, Tim Jr., and Heather bought the Quarter Midget parts business from Carl Rice.
■ Mr. Rice owned Quarter Midgets and sold parts at the Syracuse Microd and Quarter Midget Club as far back as the 1970s. He also sold parts at the Oswego County Quarter Midget Club (OCQMC) when it was established in 1998. Carl regularly supplied parts and N/C Chassis to the clubs. In 2013, Mr. Rice decided to sell the business while the Murphy family was preparing to get involved again with Quarter Midgets.
■ Tim Jr. raced Quarter Midgets from 1997 to 1999 at both OCQMC and Syracuse Microd and Quarter Midget Clubs. When Tim Jr. was old enough, he followed in his father’s footsteps and raced at the local DIRT tracks with an IMCA Mod and then the 358 DIRT Mods. In 2005, the family found a passion and started to race a SPEC Miata with SCCA at Watkins Glen International Speedway.
